Generalized Anxiety Disorder
A condition that is marked by feelings of serious apprehension or tension that occurs on a very regular basis (often at all times).
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
A condition that results in the persistence of negative thoughts and/or the performance of repetitive tasks. These tasks are performed as a means of alleviating a certain fear or anxiety (such as excessive hand washing).
Panic Attacks
The individual experiences brief, but intense, anxiety. The attacks are not triggered. Instead, they seem to come from nowhere. The person feels as though they are going to lose control.
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Individuals suffer from various types of emotional distress as the result of a particularly traumatic experience in the past. In extreme instances, the individual may experience flashbacks to the incident.
